Selfies - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Our challenge this week is selfies with a different prompt for each day. Monday was crafty me, Tuesday was family me, and Wednesday (today) is social me. I don't do selfies, and in fact, do not like having my picture taken at all. I never have, but I will see what photos I can come up with.

This is a rare selfie I took of my hand when feeding the parakeets when we were at Gatorland with Erik and Reidar a couple of years ago. I don't do head shots. LOL

For crafty me I can only offer these photos. This is a corner of our yard at the house we lived in when my Mom lived with us. We had put in all kinds of plants that she liked. After she passed, Thadd and I made this sign and dedicated the corner to her memory. I am not in the picture as you can see.

This is a picture of a frog I made many years ago. I don't really do crafts anymore and of course, my picture is not with it, so this is a close as to a crafty me that I can do.

This is a cake I made Stacey for her birthday last year. Not very creative but I didn't have much to work with and I am not good at cake decorating. It is a beach scene.

As for family me, here is a picture of my immediate family taken at one of the holidays. As you can see, Henry is still an infant and Spencer hasn't even been born. Not a selfie, but at least I am in this one.

An older picture of me and my siblings with my mom when she was still living. I think we were celebrating her birthday.

As for social me, this was taken at Thadd's birthday in February before we left the states. We were at Kobe's Japanese Steak House with family.

Here is one more of me being soical at Thadd's 60th birthday party. Wow, can't believe five years have gone by already.

Stacey likes to do selfies so here is one of her and the boys she recently took.

Sorry I can't offer better selfies. I will see if I can come up with at least one before the challenge is over. I apologize if I have used any of these photos before. xxxxxx

Reveals A Little Late

Sorry, we have had internet problems along with the electricity going out so I didn't get my reveals done yesterday. Here they are today.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday:

The first picture is of the side (pages) of a book; the second is one of my dog's brown spots on his back (dog fur); and the third is a partial flower on the comforter we are using on the bed (not one of mine, it came with the house). So, Karen you were very close if not right on for at least two of them.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday:

The first one is a fan we use in the house; the second is the arm of a rattan love seat in the family room; and the third is actually a plastic, insulated glass I drink out of.

Thanks for all of your guesses!

Reveals on Sunday

I will reveal what all of my pictures are on Sunday but I must say Karen has gotten the closest (if not outright guessed most of mine). I wish I had been as creative as some of you but in my defense, I am sort of limited here since we live here with minimal resources.

I have enjoyed looking at everyone's pictures though and I can't wait to see what everyone reveals on Sunday!

Take care and have a good weekend. I thought I would close with a picture of a variegated hibiscus I found in town town outside the Immigration Office and couple of pictures of the grandbabies. I sure do miss them! We are going back to the states for Christmas and I can't wait to give them lots of hugs and kisses! xxxxxx

Close-ups - Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Many of you are curious about my pictures. One of you is close on one and sort of close on another. What will you make of these I wonder? I think these are probably easier.

Past Times - Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

I am combining days again. Thursday is all about the clothes we wore in the past. I don't have any of those left but I downloaded some pictures off the internet of types of things I would have worn back in the 60's.

The last pictures are of what were called 'shirt waist' dresses. I would have worn these to school. My mom ordered most of my clothes from catalogs because they were less expensive that way.

I grew up in Tampa and I guess I will always consider it "home". Here are some before and after pictures of the city.

 Downtown Tampa Now (Franklin Street)

Sadly, the bakery is no longer there.

Drive-in theater's were a really big thing.

They are all gone as well.

This was one of my Mom's favorite places to have lunch. Over the years it was many different restaurants but this one lasted the longest. it is gone now.

This ice cream place is a throw back to the old days but it has survived all of these years. It still looks like it did back in the 50's. It always had the best ice cream in town.

And last but not least, a modern picture I have made look vintage (to the best of my ability).

I hope you all enjoyed my little trip. Take care. xxxx

Past Times - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

Our challenge this week is past times with a different photo, etc. for each day. Monday is a wedding from the past.  Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures from my grandparents or parents wedding but I do have a picture of Thadd's mom and dad on their wedding day.

Tuesday is about old cars, etc. This is a picture of the Sunshine Skyway bridge. It was (and still is) the tallest bridge in Florida. If you are on a boat or a ship heading out of the Port of Tampa, you will sail under this bridge. I am showing you a picture from the 50's with all of the cars of that time and then another picture after the bridge was hit by a ship. It damaged the bridge so much it had to be rebuilt.

These are the typical cars people drove in the 40's 50's and 60's. I never owned a car until after I was married and then I didn't drive much.

Wednesday are toys we might have played with. I only had two dolls that I can remember. I had a metal dollhouse and I rode my brother's bicycle. I never had my own bike until I was much older. My parents didn't have a lot of money and they didn't believe in spoiling us kids with material items. We played outside until we were told to come in. We played tag, hide and seek, tag football, climbed trees and things like that. We did have a burlap sack swing that was a lot of fun. We were always exploring. Of course it was safe back then to roam your neighborhood looking for adventure.

I'll be back on Thursday! Take care. xxxx

Thursday, Friday, Saturday

I'm doing several days at once because there are no vintage vehicles here unless you count all the beat up cars most people drive here. There are not a lot of new cars here either because the roads are so rough. I already did pictures if boats and unless you are around the airport in Belize City, planes are few and far between as well. We become so used to hearing and seeing planes in the US, you don't realize that they are missing here until you look for one. Public transport in the form of buses is very prevalent here as many do not own cars, only bicycles. A lot of people walk. Most of the buses here are not the kind we are used to or would want to take but the Belizeans are used to them. Most are not air conditioned and I'm sure their shocks and springs are pretty much non-existent. Here is an example of what they look like.

This one is actually in pretty good shape compared to most of them.

From a boat, train or plane

Today's challenge are pictures from a boat, train or plane. I don't think I have ever taken a picture from a plane and even back in Florida, trains were few and far between. I have only ridden a train maybe six times in my life. Here there are no trains at all, so that leaves boats.

My grandson Zach boarding (with help) from the back of his dad's boat.

A picture of the passing scenery from our cabin while in Greece. With the clouds, it was beautiful.

One of our cruise ships.

Boats outside the restaurant where we ate lunch yesterday in Belize City. The restaurant was at a marina.

Tuesday - Two or Three Wheel Transport

We went to Belize City today which is an all day event. We now have QRP status which makes us real retired persons in Belize. I took these pictures around Belize City today and they are a good representation of two and three wheeled transport all over Belize.

Challenge for the week Transportation

Our challenge this week is transportation with a different form of transportation each day. Today, Monday, is my car. We bought this Jeep Liberty from some friends after we moved to Belize because you really need a pickup truck or SUV to navigate the roads here. Vehicles here are very expensive because of the import taxes you have to pay. I doubt we could ever afford a new car here. Some of the roads here have the biggest potholes I have ever seen. The main highways aren't bad but I can't say the same for most of the other roads. You get used to them though. :)

I miss my nice Nissan Ultima but you gotta do what you gotta do. As long as we have AC in the car that is all that really matters.
