Summer - Out and About - Monday through Wednesday

Our challenge this week:

This week I thought I would ask you to photograph some ..
Out and About Summer Views, share the summer colours and vibrancy !

Here's a few ideas:

Monday.... Summer shopping
Tuesday....  Summer Food
Wednesday...Sunrise or Sunset
Thursday ... Colourful Clothes
Friday .... Sunlight and Shade
Saturday ... Children in the Sunshine
Sunday ... Summer water
Hope you enjoy it...

Just about every day is like summer shopping here but these are some pictures I took around town yesterday.

Monday - This is where we buy most of our meats except for chicken. We get that at Caribbean chicken (the picture I took there did not come out very well). Frank's is a true butcher shop. They cut everything up right there.

Tuesday - This is the market (just one stall and the vendor we like to deal with, Sylvia). The market itself is huge. We get all of our fruits and vegetables here.

Wednesday - The way our house is situated, I don't really see much of either so I am just going to use a sunset picture from my archives from a vacation we took at Treasure Island Beach back in Florida.

Take care! xxx

Season Views - Summer

Our challenge this week is as follows:

Can you believe we are on our third season.. January was Winter, April was Spring and here we are in Summer!  I hope you are enjoying this gorgeous spell of proper English Summer (or summer wherever else you are!)

This Season's Views : Summer

You can have a lazy week and just post one view for the whole week if you wish, but try and take a view you used back in Week 5, Winter.. or Week 17 Spring.

... but if you want to join in every day, or some days then here's a few ideas..(you can mix these up if you like as maybe you need to think about some of them over a couple of days)

Monday  ... Garden View or Through the Window
Tuesday  ... This season's favourite meal
Wednesday ...  Sky View
Thursday   ... Family or friends
Friday  ...  This season's favourite outfit
Saturday ...  View of a frequently visited place
Sunday  (...bear with me on this one..)   Feet first.. show us your feet / shoes in this season's setting! (apologies for that one, it came from one of my creative thinking design colleagues!) Hopefully we may get snow / sand and autumn leaves but who knows!

I think I will do the whole week because I am not sure I will have time later on. So here goes:

Monday - Garden View or Through a Window: Here is a picture back from winter at our house in Orlando, and a view from our window now. Quite a difference huh?

Tuesday - Seasons favorite meal: Hands down it has to be breakfast at Miss June's. With the big pieces of fresh fruit, she has the best breakfast in town!

Wednesday - Sky View: The sky is so blue here and most days there are few, if any clouds. At night, the stars look close enough to touch! Neither of my cameras do justice at night but I did take a picture of a full moon a few weeks ago that didn't come out too badly.

Thursday - Family or Friends: I haven't taken any pictures of the friends we have made here as of yet. I will have to do that. So, for this one, I will go to my archives and my family. This is Henry with his great grandfather Hicks that was taken in Tennessee over the fourth of July.

Zach out riding his bike with his friends. A typical summer activity.

And my cutie Spencer, always reaching for something.

Henry and Spencer checking out Aunt Chelsea's empty moving truck!

Friday - Season's favorite outfit: Well besides my pajamas, it has to be one of these dresses.

Saturday - View of frequently visited place: We see this clock tower every time we go into town. Can't miss it!

Sunday - Feet/Shoes for the season: Here is it definitely flip flops (or sandals) year round. This is my collection of flip flops so far.

That does it for me for the week. I look forward to seeing other's pictures! Take care. xxxxx

By The Numbers - Sunday - 99

When I was growing up, if we were going to take a long trip we would always sing to help pass the time. It would usually be songs like, "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and things like that but we also sang a song called "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall". So, I thought it would be fitting to put a picture of 99 bottles of beer on the wall along with some of the lyrics (which were really just repetitive).

Lyrics of the song 99 Bottles of Beer

99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall.
98 bottles of beer on the wall, 98 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 97 bottles of beer on the wall.
97 bottles of beer on the wall, 97 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 96 bottles of beer on the wall.
96 bottles of beer on the wall, 96 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 95 bottles of beer on the wall.
95 bottles of beer on the wall, 95 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 94 bottles of beer on the wall.
94 bottles of beer on the wall, 94 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 93 bottles of beer on the wall.
93 bottles of beer on the wall, 93 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 92 bottles of beer on the wall.
92 bottles of beer on the wall, 92 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 91 bottles of beer on the wall.
91 bottles of beer on the wall, 91 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 90 bottles of beer on the wall.
90 bottles of beer on the wall, 90 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 89 bottles of beer on the wall.
89 bottles of beer on the wall, 89 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 88 bottles of beer on the wall.
88 bottles of beer on the wall, 88 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, 87 bottles of beer on the wall.

And so on until you get to the last bottle…………………………..

1 bottle of beer on the wall, 1 bottle of beer.
Take one down and pass it around, no more bottles of beer on the wall.
No more bottles of beer on the wall, no more bottles of beer.
Go to the store and buy some more, 99 bottles of beer on the wall.

Such a silly song really but it did help pass the time on a long drive. That does it for me this week. Everyone take care. xxxxxx

By The Numbers - Saturday - One

I guess one can be a lonely number if you don't like being alone. I do enjoy some alone time. Wouldn't want it to be all of the time but once in a while is quite enjoyable for me. So, for the number one, what to do? Guess I will just post some pictures of...guess who? LOL

When Henry turned one!

When Spencer turned one!

And my Toby looking forlorn!

Not very creative but I just couldn't come up with anything else. Guess my brain is taking a holiday. xxxx

By The Numbers - Friday - Seven

Today's number is seven. So I am doing two different kinds of pictures. The first is a BBQ chicken dinner we bought locally. it cost $7 BZ or $3.50 US.

This the a collage of the seven grandchildren

By the Numbers - Thursday - Three

Today for our challenge we have the number three. Is three a crowd? Not necessarily. I am falling back on a couple of recent pictures I have of. who else?, the boys! LOL! These were taken in Tennessee over the Fourth of July where my daughter's stepmom (Kim, who is also a friend) is from and they have a family reunion every year at this time. The first one is Corey (my SIL) with the boys and the black and white one is the boys meeting up with their cousin Knox (about the same age as Henry) for the first time this year. You see Spencer watching their every move.

That does it for me today. Take care. xxxxx

By The Numbers - Wednesday - Ten

Okay, I am taking the easy way out today. Our number for the day is 10 so I decided to do the front and back of my hand. Five and five equal 10! LOL

Everyone have a good day! xxxx

By the Numbers - Tuesday - 50

Today, our number is 50. I tried researching on the internet anything special that happened 50 years ago today but believe it or not, nothing much occurred on July 15, 1964! So I decided to take a picture of a Belizean Fifty Dollar bill and 50 Mexican Pesos.

The exchange rate for the Belizean money is 2 to 1 (US) and the Pesos, approximately 12 to 1 (US). The Peso rate changes all of the time.

Play It By Numbers - Monday - Two

Our challenge this week is Play it By Numbers. Here is what KathiJo gave us:

Thinking of half way points, maybe we should play around with Numbers this week..in a very flexible way ! You can pretty much choose the pictures you like but try and match them to the daily prompt!

Here's some daily prompts, absolutely free to choose the subject so long as it links to the number:

Monday... two / twin (two peas in a pod or twin girls maybe?)
Tuesday ... fifty  (years ago or pennies?)
Wednesday... ten ( fingers or toes or any ten you like!)
Thursday ... three (is a crowd?)
Friday ... seven (days a week or little dwarves?)
Saturday ... One ( a lonely one or the only one?)
Sunday ... 99!

Living where we are we don't see a lot of people unless we go into town which we do not do every day. So for today (Monday), I will have to rely on pictures I have of the boys and believe me, they are like two peas in a pod! Not twins, but only 15 months apart, and Spencer learns everything from big brother Henry! So, let's see what I can come up with.

They had just gotten haircuts and were sitting next to each other eating their lollipops they had gotten for being good and sitting still.

Through the Looking Glass - The Whole Week

Here I am again playing catch up. I don't know where all my time goes because I really don't do a whole lot but before I know it, the day is gone!

Our challenge this week for Lucky 7's in 2014 is "Through the Looking Glass" with a different prompt for each day of the week. Here are mine.

Monday - Through the kitchen window. I actually have two sets of windows now in the kitchen so I took a picture of both views. Most all of the houses here have what they call 'burglar bars' so you can see them in my pictures.

Tuesday - Through the bedroom window.

You can see our avocado tree in this one even though the view is not much different from the kitchen views.

Wednesday - Image in a mirror

This is a picture from the bathroom mirror that reflects the shower wall.

Thursday - Looking in a shop window.

This was in  my archives. It is bread sitting in the window cooling at the Ynot Bakery in town. They make the best bread and bakery items and they are much healthier than what you can buy in the stores (that have been imported). They use less sugar and more natural ingredients. And, everything is so inexpensive!

Friday - Not what it seems

We did some driving around yesterday and decided to go to an area called Cerros Sands. The picture I am showing you is not really what it seems, no bridge to cross the water. Well, there isn't a bridge but there is a hand cranked "ferry" that takes you and your car across.

Saturday - Something interesting seen through a window.

This is not a picture of anything I saw but a recent picture of Spencer in a tower in Knoxville, Tennessee looking a lots of interesting things!

Sunday - Window or mirror view on a holiday.

Again, I go to my archives for this one. I know I have used this picture before but I just love it and couldn't resist. I was actually on my balcony on a cruise but that is like a big picture window! We were sailing close to the Greek Isles.

Well, that does it for this week. Everyone have a good weekend and stay safe, happy, and healthy! xxx

From The Back - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Been a little under the weather with a sore throat for over a week now. Sorry, I am behind but this should catch me up.

Wednesday - The back of a Landmark - You don't see too many landmarks here in Corozal so I went to my archives and chose a picture of the fort I took while we were in Dubrovnik. The inside of the fort is quite different.

Thursday - The back of a flower

This is the back of a hisbiscus in our yard. It was quite breezy when I took it so I had a hard time because it wouldn't hold still. LOL

Friday - The back side of a sign. Again, there are very few signs in Corozal. Only a few stop signs. No traffic lights whatsoever! Makes for interesting driving. Anyway, here is the back side of a stop sign.

Saturday - The back of your journey. Since I haven't been feeling well I haven't been too many places (went to the doctor yesterday) and I haven't felt like messing much with photos. But, I did take this picture yesterday on our way home of a cemetery. It isn't necessarily a 'back view' but we did have to back up the car so I could take it. LOL

And a back view of the chairs we sit in out by the water.

And for Sunday, it is our choice so I chose one of my favorite pictures of Spencer that is a back. It looks like he has on a "super power" cape on but it is just his tee shirt.

I hope everyone is well and has a good weekend. xxxx

From the Back - Day 1 and 2

Sorry I am behind. Our internet has been down for several days and when it does come back it is spotty. Apparently there has been some kind of global attack on the servers (which is happening all over the world so I guess it is our turn).

Our challenge this week is "from the back". The first picture is to be of the back of yourself. So here is mine.

This is a picture I took of some of the children in town. They go around with these baskets selling things. Not sure what as they don't approach us 'gringos' very often.

And of course, I have oodles of pictures of the boys from behind. Stacey likes to take them for some reason. I guess it is more artistic?

I can't resist putting these pictures of Spencer getting his first haircut on here. I know it is not part of the challenge but he is just so darn cute!

I will catch up with the rest hopefully by tomorrow if the internet holds up. xxxx
